The Golden Purse was incorporated in 1983 by Alexander and Carole Ragonesi. What began as a small retail outlet has since been developed to become one of the largest wholesale outlets in the United Kingdom.

The Golden Purse name originates from the main business activity of its early days - that of buying in second hand and antique jewellery. However, the business quickly developed and opened its first wholesale outlet in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter in 1988. In 1991 The Golden Purse moved to a larger premises enabling further expansion of business processes and a wider more economic range of offers to its customers.

The Golden Purse is currently in a period of transition. The Company is seeking to further improve commitment to customers and quality and endeavours to increase its portfolio of products and services substantially in the coming months.
